Tucker's Point Club, Bermuda's preeminent new resort, private club and residential community is breaking ground on a new golf clubhouse. The 20,000-square-foot clubhouse, which will open in Fall 2003, will blend into a scenic hillside overlooking the golf course's starting and finishing holes. It will house, among many other amenities, a 1,500-square-foot golf shop supported by the latest in technology, a fully equipped fitness centre, and a variety of practice facilities. The focal point of the clubhouse will be a lovely verandah that spans the building's entire second floor, where club members can enjoy al fresco dining and cocktails along with spectacular views of Castle Harbour and Tucker's Town. The golf clubhouse will be the centerpiece of the new Tucker's Point Golf Course and part of the $250 million, 200-acre Tucker's Point Club development, which sits on one of the most stunning sites in Bermuda.
"You won't have to be a golfer to fully appreciate our new golf clubhouse," said Bruce Fraser, General Manager of the Tucker's Point Golf, Beach & Tennis Club. "It will function as an elegant place for members and guests to meet, dine or relax while enjoying panoramic views of the golf course, the turquoise waters of Castle Harbour and the Atlantic Ocean." The golf clubhouse will be a superior blend of form and function. Its exterior will reflect traditional Bermudian architecture and accents, including covered verandahs, while its interior design will be British Colonial, warmed by light cherry wood furniture. Players will enjoy easy access to and from the golf course, with returning nines to the clubhouse. Plans also call for spacious women's and men's locker rooms; a food and beverage facility adaptable to private dining or group functions including weddings; a board room accommodating up to 14 people; and ample parking space.
A traditional Bermudian cottage presently serves as the temporary golf clubhouse, housing a pro shop and men's and women's locker rooms. When the new golf clubhouse is open, this picturesque cottage will be converted into the permanent tennis clubhouse. Two Har-Tru "clay" tennis courts are now available for play and two additional courts are planned.
The Tucker's Point Golf Club's membership program, which commenced in early 2002, has garnered tremendous interest and response. Membership is by invitation only (a refundable $75,000 membership deposit applies). For membership inquiries, please write to Bruce Fraser, General Manager, Tucker's Point Golf, Beach & Tennis Club at P.O. Box HS 101, Harrington Sound, Bermuda HS BX.
